How audio and video passthrough works on your Slingbox

Our Slingbox 500, 350, PRO-HD, PRO, 120 and SOLO all support audio and video passthrough.

Any audio or video source output will pass through the Slingbox to the corresponding input on the television. This includes HDMI on the Slingbox 500.

As the example below illustrates, you route your audio and video as follows: Audio/video output of your set-top box > Audio/video input of Slingbox > Audio/video output of Slingbox > TV audio/video input:

Please note: You can't mix and match plug types. Component won't pass to composite, and so on. It's a 1:1 relationship. If you use component input, you must use component output to utilize passthrough. Also note that HDCP does not affect passthrough over HDMI, but it can affect the content being streamed.
